|
|
| Quote: | Phoenix-based extreme metal band ABIGAIL WILLIAMS has called it quits. The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:
"ABIGAIL WILLIAMS has decided to disband. It's no secret that the band has had more than its fair share of lineup problems and the time has now come to close the doors. The MySpace page will remain active and we'll continue to sell merchandise until we run out of stock.
"ABIGAIL WILLIAMS released their debut EP, 'Legend', via Candlelight Records earlier this year and it is currently available in stores everywhere. Thanks to everyone at Candlelight who believed in this band and every fan who has supported our music.
"Please don't bother asking for specific details surrounding the band's demise; just understand that this was for the better and we'll try to keep everyone posted as to the future endeavors of former band members, etc." |
Wow...that was quick. I just read on the Candlelight site yesterday that they were recording their debut full-length.
Will Zach ever find a permanent band? |

Who are these people?
Every time the name Abigail is mentioned I automatically think of King Diamond _________________

Same here.
They probably broke up because everyone thinks they're a 50 year old Country Singer (that's what the name Abigail Williams sounds like to me). _________________

That doesn't really meant too much coming from someone whose metal taste revolves around witches and warlocks.
I thought they were pretty good. I can't understand why they get so hated on.
"Scene" backlash?
Whatever...good metal is good metal...fuck politics.
Does no one really remember Abigail Williams?

I didn't bang on them, I just expressed my indifference for the band
for all I know they might kick ass but I have so much stuff to check out that A.W. is a non-issue...
btw, what serious matters do A.W. present in their lyrics? if it's not about witches and warlocks it's about gut-eating and head-chopping or freezing forests and night demons...
let's face it most metal lyrics subject matters are corny, but I take that any day over songs about "bling" or "humps" or whatever... _________________ I got nuthin' |

Hybrid is funny.
I heard a couple of songs on the metal channel by these guys and I thought they where damn good. If I had money I probably would have picked up an album. _________________

seen them open for Enslaved over the winter, I wasn't too impressed.
The players all seemed comptetent, but I couldn't handle the singer, he did a lot of "screamo" and had a shitty attitude as well. _________________

See for yourself...
Melquiades (the Great Work)
Lost in something closest to true gnosis
A sociopath's neurosis born from hours spent scorned
And transposing messages intentionally skewed and bent
That have encoded why humanity has gone the way of the post script
After the experience, a daunting afterthought lingers, a tenacious sailor's knot
Tying up past and present moments
With the promise of a future
Lying gagged and sedated on a polyester cot
Pay attention to the golden spiral that dictates a certain degree of mind rot
Or mind not anything that comes closest
To knowledgeable or knowledge less true gnosis'
That ever strived for second of superceding darkness
With its umbrella shaped harness
That efficiently prepares each and every one of us
For absolute nothingness.
Those lyrics > witches and warlocks |

bah! pretentious faux-philosophic crap....
ok, I admit it, I didn't bother reading them
but songs about wizards and warriors are still much much better (and more metal)

Yes, but at the same time they look totally overdone- almost on the same level as some goregrind stuff, which is based solely on 'untelligent' vocabulary. Or so it just seems.
Such cornucopia and plethora of profound wording proves to be downright exhausting to the potential, simple-minded reader and, in so doing, is thoroughly humdrum. Is my desire to be astonished by the meisterwerk, or one's skills at sweeping through a multitude of dictionaries? _________________ I love every human being on this beautiful planet.*

Does broad vocabulary mean quality and overall enjoyability? In my opinion everything also needs to sound natural, while the aforementioned lyrics certainly don't- at least when I read them. Far too much unnecessary complexity. _________________ I love every human being on this beautiful planet.*

I don't know, they kind of remind me of Heartwork lyrics, lots of double-meaning, lots of puns, lots of wordplay. As an English teacher, I enjoy such lyrics.
Either way, I like the Legend EP, and am sad the band is...uhh..disbanding. _________________ Suck My Balls

Couldn't possibly agree more.
But I'll have to check out this EP and hear how the song works out sound-wise. Maybe then it will make more sense to me. _________________ I love every human being on this beautiful planet.*

I wish I could remember who said it (Einstein, maybe) that only fools feel the need to use big words to try to prove they are smart. Anyone truely smart realizes it and has no need to impress anyone with big words. _________________

But were are the big words? The only word in there I don't know is "gnostic." Which I'll never mistake for "big."
Those lyrics are as ordinary as they come.
More hating. I swear this band just can't catch a break....even in death. |
